Caramel Brownies

Seriously, these are to die for! They are an old family recipe on Val's side of the family, and we just made them for the first time a couple of weeks ago. They are so good! And easy! Even better!

Mix:
1 german chocolate cake mix
1/2 cup evaporated milk
3/4 cup butter/margarine
nuts-optional

Put 1/2 the brownie mixture in a well greased 9X13 pan. The mixture is thick, and will have to be spread with a spatula to cover the dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. During this 12 minutes, melt 40-50 caramels (or one bag of the unwrapped caramel bits in the baking aisle) and 1/2 cup evaporated milk in the microwave. Take the brownies out after 12 minutes and spread the melted caramel over it. Then sprinkle chocolate chips on top of that. Finally, spoon the rest of the batter over the top. Bake for another 15-20 minutes.

It's fun to see the rivers of caramel when it's done. I thought by using a cake mix, these wouldn't have the right texture for me. Boy was I wrong! They are honestly like the perfect brownie! I hope you all enjoy them as much as we do!!!
