This recipe came from Jillian Norton, back in Kingwood. The marmite called for in the recipe can generally be found in the ethnic section of the grocery store, but if you can't find it, it tastes just fine without! The Bisto is also a product found in the UK and is very similar to gravy powder, so gravy powder would substitute just fine in place of the bisto.
Make mashed potatoes. Then take your hamburger meat and diced onion(or dried onion flakes) and fry it. Add to the meat mixture 1 teaspoon of marmite, pepper and salt to taste, and 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce. If you are adding any Bisto (gravy powder) add it with one cup of milk to your meat mixture. Layer your shepherd's pie with your meat on the bottom and your potatoes on top. Add butter to the top of the potatoes. Place in oven until the potatoes begin to brown.
Enjoy!
